Former Agriculture Minister Vadde Shobhanadeswr Rao cautioned Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu against the move to acquire 44,000 more acres of land in capital city Amaravati. He accused Chandrababu of continuing with the old trend and giving a big role to corporates and warned him that this could lead to another disaster.
He said that 33,000 acres have already been acquired for the capital Amaravati and there are 58,000 acres of government lands. He reminded that the construction of High Court administrative buildings, Assembly and Council buildings has already been done.
Even if the lands acquired are not enough, he deplored that the government is in the mood to acquire more. The former MP Vadde said that various banks have sanctioned loans of Rs. 33,000 crores for Amaravati and the government is thinking of taking loans of Rs. 69,000 crores more.
He recalled that Chandrababu himself had earlier contributed for the bifurcation of the state in the name of `two-eye’ principle and after the bifurcation the people crowned him as an experienced leader.
Though the Congress paid heavy price for bifurcating the state, he mentioned that credit goes to that party for including key issues like special status, filling the deficit budget and funds for the development of backward areas.
But, Vadde lamented that it is our misfortune that the Narendra Modi-led central government had completely ignored the bifurcation promises and failed to meet its own commitments as well. He expressed concern that even though the center is doing great injustice to the state, Chandrababu Naidu is unable to fight properly for the benefit of the state.
The former TDP minister recalled that he had previously cautioned that YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy would come to power due to Chandrababu’s mistakes, and he did. He criticized Jagan’s entire rule as anarchic, with attacks and cases against TDP workers.
Vadde wondered that though 58,000 acres of land is available for capital Amaravati, what is the need to go for another 44,000 acres again? He wondered whether Chandrababu was doing a real estate business? Or is he intended to build a capital city?
The former minister asserted that the poor people needed good infrastructure and not a metro rail. He suggested that there should be a change in Chandrababu’s thinking and a change in the priority to be given on the timely requirements.
