Former minister Jogi Ramesh, accused of illegal acquisition of Agrigold lands, defended himself in a media statement, alleging persecution through fabricated charges.
“They’re trying to send me to jail with false cases, but agrigold land survey numbers are publicly available at sub-registrar offices. How could these lands be registered in anyone else’s name?” Ramesh questioned. “We legally purchased land from Mahalakshmi Properties, advertised it in Eenadu paper, and completed registrations. Buyers conducted surveys, measurements, and advertisements. If these were agrigold lands, wouldn’t authorities reject registrations?” he argued, condemning media accusations.
“Today, they eagerly pursue cases against me. Bring it on. Arrest me. Seize properties. The public watches. If jailed temporarily, can’t we return?” he challenged, referring to public mandate and civic projects. “We’ll support Amaravati and Polavaram’s success, if you do right. But why target us? Is it for this happiness that the people have given you power?”
