Hours after kingpin in AP Liquor Scam Raj Kasireddy was arrested by SIT officials at Shamshabad Airport in Hyderabad on Monday evening, the AP CID officials arrested former AP Intelligence Chief PSR Anjaneyulu on Tuesday morning.
The CID officials arrested him in Hyderabad in the Mumbai actress Jethwani case. Anjaneyulu worked as the Intelligence Chief during the YSRCP regime and was known for his proximity with the former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy. It is known that Anjaneyulu is also an accused in the case on custodial torture against AP Assembly Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju.
Till today, Anjaneyulu has not even filed a petition for bail in the court. He was detained at his residence in Begumpet and is being taken to Vijayawada by the police. The AP police suspect that even after a change of government in the state, he has been guiding both officers and YSRCP leaders, who were involved in various cases filed by the coalition government on how to avoid investigation.
Due to his contacts in the police department, he has been allegedly influencing dilution of various such cases. A case was registered against a Mumbai film actress in Vijayawada last year. The actress alleged that this case was filed against her to pressure her to withdraw the case she had filed against YSRCP leader Vidyasagar.
At that time, PSR Anjaneyulu was the Intelligence Chief. The incident took place when Kanti Rana was the Vijayawada Police Commissioner and Vishal Gunni was the DCP. A case was also registered against the actress along with her parents and brother on the complaint of YSRCP leader Vidyasagar.
An FIR was registered at Ibrahimpatnam police station on February 2 last year. On February 3, the actress and her parents were arrested in Mumbai and brought to Vijayawada. The police did not tell anyone about the case registered against her. This matter came to light on August 26, 2024.
After that, the Mumbai actress came to Vijayawada and filed a complaint with Vijayawada CP Rajasekhar Babu. After the complaint of the Mumbai actress, IPS officers Sitaramanjaneyulu, Kanti Rana, Vishal Gunni, ACP Hanumantha Rao, and CI Satyanarayana were suspended.
In September last year, a case was registered against YSRCP leader Vidyasagar and IPS officers. Now these two cases have been transferred to the CID. The government has also suspended the IPS officers. Meanwhile, recently a Mumbai actress came to Vijayawada and requested that the investigation of her case be expedited. In this order, the arrest of senior IPS PSR Anjaneyul by CID officers has become a sensation.
