Former officials at the Chief Minister’s Office during YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime, Dhanunjay Reddy and Krishna Mohan Reddy appeared before the SIT for the second day of questioning on Thursday in the AP liquor scam. The duo, who had been on the run for 20 days, fearing that they would be arrested at any moment after their names were revealed in the SIT investigation, finally appeared for questioning under mandatory circumstances.
They appeared after the Supreme Court granted interim protection from arrest until the 16th of this month and ordered them to fully cooperate with the investigation of the investigating officers in the meantime. The SIT questioned the two in various ways on Wednesday.
However, since they did not give proper answers, the SIT officials have issued notices to them to appear for questioning again on Thursday. In this order, both of them appeared before the SIT at 10 am. The questioning is likely to continue till this evening.
Krishna Mohan Reddy and Dhanunjay Reddy will be questioned separately. However, while they say that they have no role in the liquor scam, the SIT officials say that there is evidence of their involvement. It remains to be seen whether they will cooperate with the SIT officials in today’s hearing.
Meanwhile, the SIT investigation in the liquor scam case is ongoing. So far, five people, including the main accused Raj Kasireddy, have already been arrested in this case. In particular, two days ago, Govindappa Balaji, who was A33 in this case, was arrested by the SIT officials in Mysore and taken to Vijayawada for questioning. The ACB Court remanded him until 20th of this month.
The SIT requested the court to give Balaji Govindappa to custody as more information is needed in this case. At the same time that Govindappa was produced in court, Dhanunjay Reddy and Krishna Mohan Reddy unexpectedly attended the SIT hearing.
On the other hand, Sajjala Sridhar Reddy, who was arrested in the liquor scam, is being taken into SIT custody on Thursday. Sajjala Sridhar Reddy will be interrogated by the SIT officials for three days. Sridhar Reddy was brought from the district jail to the SIT office for custody. It is known that the SIT officials have already interrogated the three accused who were arrested in the same case.
