Former BRS Minister and Medchal MLA Malla Reddy was detained by the police on Saturday in a land dispute and police shifted him to Hyderabad Petbasheerabad police station. Along with him, his son-in-law, Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy was also taken into custody.
According to a report some people had erected a fence using fiber boundary sheets at a land parcel at Petbasheerabad on Friday night. On coming to know about it, Malla Reddy and his relatives along with party workers reached the spot.
There is a land dispute between Malla Reddy and others over the land in survey number 82 under Suchitra. Malla Reddy and his followers came and raised a ruckus saying that their land was being occupied. When they tried to remove fencing around the land, allegedly laid on Friday night, the atmosphere of confrontation arose.
When police tried to prevent two sides, Malla Reddy had a heated argument with the police saying how could they get away with fencing their land. His followers tried to demolish the fencing in front of the police.
But 15 others claims that 1.11 acres of land is theirs. They said that they had bought land in the past at the rate of 400 yards each. And the court has also ruled in their favor. They are alleging that Malla Reddy’s followers are scaring them.
Malla Reddy tried to remove the fencing with his followers saying that he would protect his place. As the situation got out of hand, the police took former minister Malla Reddy into custody. He was taken to Pate Bashirabad Police Station.
It may be recalled that Malla Reddy has also been accused of land grabbing in the past. Cases have been registered against him under several sections, including atrocity, for occupying 47 acres of land belonging to SCs and STs last year. Last year, Shamipet police registered a case against him.
A person named Ketawat Bhikshapati complained in the Shamirpet police station that Malla Reddy had encroached 47 acres of tribal land in Kesavaram of Thiruchinthalapalli mandal of Medchal Malkajgiri district.
