The brutal murder of former minister and brother of former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, YS Vivekananda Reddy continues to invoke political emotions, even after five years. Exactly five years ago, on this day when he was hacked to death in his own house in Pulivendala, exactly one month ahead of the general election, the then leader of opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party made serious accusations against the then chief minister Chandrababu Naidu.
This became a major issue in the election battle. But after coming to power, Jagan has allegedly made all efforts to push this case into cold storage. Later events exposed that the then campaign of ‘Narasura Raktacharitra’ was a myth.
Viveka’s assassination became a sympathy weapon for YS Jagan and played a vital role in his victory. People expected that after coming to power Jagan would crack the conspiracy of his brother’s younger brother’s murder case and arrest the accused. But nothing happened. The Jagan government could not bring the murderers to book.
Moreover, an attempt was made to close the case on its own. Later events gave strong suspicion even to the daughter of Vivekananda Reddy, Dr N Suneetha, sister of Chief Minister Jagan, that YS compound was behind the murder.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who had earlier complained to the governor that Chandrababu and his son Lokesh, besides the then minister Adinarayana Reddy and TDP MLC BTech Ravi were the masterminds of Viveka’s murder, as chief minister hardly done anything to prove those charges.
Surprisingly Jagan, who went to the High Court as opposition leader seeking a CBI probe into this case, as chief minister opposed the same. It was after Dr Suneetha’s legal fight brough CBI into picture.
The CBI concluded that the sketch of the axe used to kill Viveka was done in the YS compound. Google Takeout showed the accused to the outside world through other technical evidence. Jagan’s younger brother and Kadapa MP YS Avinash Reddy, his father YS Bhaskara Reddy and YCP state leader Devi Reddy Sivashankar Reddy were found guilty.
The investigation revealed that Viveka was killed only for the Kadapa MP seat and supremacy. Hunted. The CBI has arrested 8 people in this case. Dastagiri who was A-4 among them became the approver. Dastagiri used to work as a driver for Viveka. The reason why the murder case investigation has come so far is Dastagiri.
When the CBI team arrived at Kurnool to arrest Avinash Reddy, YCP ranks were deployed for almost four days to avoid. Since Avinash Reddy was not arrested.. all the people of the state know who is behind this. Finally Avinash Reddy was arrested by CBI in Hyderabad and granted bail on the same day.
Dr Sunita fought tirelessly to find out who the accused were in her father’s murder case. Since CM Jagan, who is his own brother, did not cooperate with the investigation of the case, she started fighting alone. She accused Jagan of blocking the investigation at every step.
However, she showed praiseworthy courage to go ahead and expressed determination to bring the case into logical conclusion. Very recently she said in Delhi that the real justice for the murder of her father Vivekananda Reddy will be done only through the people’s verdict.
“Jagan’s government has a lot of murderous politics. Our family will not get justice if YCP comes to power again. Don’t vote for our brother Jagan’s party, which is guilty of fraud and fraud” she urged people of Andhra Pradesh.
Survey predicts majority of seats for Congress in Telangana
Though BJP is making all-out efforts to get double-digit Lok Sabha seats from Telangana by fielding most of defected leaders as its candidates, a latest survey predicts that Congress is bound to win a majority of seats, reaching double digit.
According to ACB CVoter Opinion Poll data for Lok Sabha Polls 2024, Congress is likely to get 10 out of a total number of 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state. BJP is likely to be confined to its present number of 4 seats, while BRS, which lost power in recent Assembly elections, will be pushed to third place with 3 seats. And AIMIM is likely to keep up its Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat, which it has been winning since the last three decades.
The southern state of Telangana rose to national prominence swiftly after it gained separation from Andhra Pradesh in 2014, through the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. The political landscape in Telangana underwent a notable shift with the rise of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), formerly known as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), under the leadership of K Chandrashekhar Rao.
As the political battle starts to heat up ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, ABP News, in association with CVoter, conducted an opinion poll in Telangana to project a rough picture of the public’s mindset in the state.
According to the survey as far as the vote share is concerned, Congress is likely to have a vote share of around 43 per cent, BJP is predicted to get 25 per cent of the vote share. Meanwhile, BRS is projected to get 28 percent of of the votes in the state, while the AIMIM is likely to get 2 percent of the votes.
In the 2019 elections, the BRS (then TRS) emerged as the dominant party, securing nine seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) followed with four seats, relegating the INC to third place with three seats. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) also secured one seat.
