In a significant development that has received statewide attention, former MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy has been arrested by the police. This is in the aftermath of large-scale violence on the day of polling—the incidents of which were filmed and widely circulated, and led to outrage across the country.
The clashes, which left many in shock, reportedly involved organized mobs storming through villages, causing chaos and destruction. According to police sources and eyewitness accounts, the violence was led by none other than Pinnelli’s brother, Venkatarami Reddy, who was allegedly seen brandishing weapons and leading the charge.
After the incidents, several cases were filed, and both brothers went underground. Although Pinnelli was later arrested and put into judicial custody, he was subsequently released on bail. Fresh allegations, however, state that he has continued to organize politically motivated violence in the area since then.
At the same time, Venkatarami Reddy is still on the run, and an issue is being raised about the failure to arrest him so far. It still remains uncertain if he is deliberately evading the police or if efforts have been missing to hunt him down.
In a stunning twist, Venkatarami Reddy has now been accused in a fresh criminal complaint of masterminding the recent killing of two Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activists. The investigators suspect that he had indoctrinated his accomplices into the TDP with a view to causing internal disturbances and eliminating competitors within the party. Acting on this new information, the authorities have charged him with additional crimes.
