Film Workers Agree to 22.5% Wage Hike After Telangana Labour Talks

Hyderabad: Film workers have reached an agreement for a 22.5 percent wage hike following discussions held at the Telangana Labour Department. The talks brought together producers and Federation leaders to resolve the ongoing dispute that had halted film shootings for the past 18 days.

Producer and FDC chairman Dil Raju stated that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, along with senior officials, FDC, and the Labour Department, intervened to resolve the issues through the Film Chamber. “Both sides have now understood each other’s difficulties—producers appreciated the Federation’s concerns, and the Federation understood the producers’ challenges,” he said.

Additional Commissioner of Labour Gangadhar explained that workers had demanded a 30 percent wage increase. After several rounds of discussions between the Federation and the Chamber, an agreement was reached at the Labour Department. Workers earning up to Rs. 2,000 will receive a 15% hike in the first year, 2.5% in the second year, and 5% in the third year, while those earning Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 5,000 will get 7.5%, 5%, and 5% over the three years respectively. Film Federation leaders confirmed that shootings will resume from Friday and expressed gratitude to the CM for his efforts toward workers’ welfare.
