The hearing on the custody petition of former MLA and YSRCP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi was held in the Nuzvid Court on Tuesday. Seeking his custody again, the police told the court that the investigation was not conducted properly due to Vamsi’s illness. The court has ordered the police to tell what investigation was conducted in two days and posted the matter for Thursday.
The Hanuman Junction police have filed a second petition in the Nuzvid Court seeking three days’ custody of Vamsi in the fake house title case. During the hearing Vamsi’s lawyer told the court that he had been taken into custody for two days in the same case in the past. However, the police informed the court that the investigation was not conducted properly due to Vamsi’s illness for those two days.
After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court ordered the police to tell what investigation was conducted in the two days. The Nuzvid Court will announce its decision after the hearing. On the other hand, Vamsi has filed a petition in the High Court for interim bail. However, the High Court bench has made it clear that the hearing will not be held urgently, in view of his health reasons. However, the court said that the hearing will be held on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Vamsi is already a remand prisoner in several cases. It is known that Vamsi was granted bail in the Vijayawada court in connection with the attack on the TDP office in Gannavaram and the kidnapping case of Satya Vardhan. However, a recent case has been registered in the Nuzvid court, in which Vamsi continues to be a remand prisoner.
Charges have been registered against Vamsi for defrauding the poor by providing fake house pattas during the 2019 elections. When he was asked to be kept in custody for two days in this regard, the judicial officer agreed to it. But while he was in custody, Vamsi fell ill. He was immediately taken to the hospital and treated.
Police say that Vamsi did not cooperate with the investigation due to his illness. While Vamsi is trying hard for bail, the police are also intensifying efforts to take Vamsi into custody.
