A court in Vijayawada has remanded former intelligence boss PSR Anjaneyulu, who was arrested in the actress Jethvani case, till May 7. With this, PSR was shifted to the district jail in Vijayawada. In the remand report, the police said that Anjaneyulu had arrested Jethvani and her parents as per a predetermined plan.
It was also clear in this regard that the call record data of PSR Anjaneyulu, the then CP Kanti Rana Tata and Vishal Gunni was also available. It is said that PSR Anjaneyulu was also in touch with Mumbai police officers at that time. It was brought to the notice of the court that he had bought Mumbai flight tickets two days before the original case was registered against Jethwani due to pre-determination.
The police said that it was also found that there was no truth in the complaint filed by YSRCP leader Vidyasagar against Mumbai actress Jethwani and there was also a 164 statement given before the judge in this regard. Moreover, the investigating officer also mentioned the statement given to him by Vishal Gunni in the remand report.
Vishal Gunni said that PSR Anjaneyulu called him to the CMO and assigned him the task of arresting Jethwani. Vishal Gunni said that he was assigned the task even though he had no connection with the case. He also explained that he was told that he would be relieved to Visakhapatnam only if he completed this task.
The remand report stated that he had made this illegal arrest by abusing his authority as the then Intelligence Chief insisted on his and a woman’s personal freedom being taken away. Moreover, he confessed that when the then CP Kanti Rana told the then DGP Rajendranath Reddy about this matter, he directed to go ahead.
They informed the court that PSR Anjaneyulu did not cooperate with the investigation and his iPhone was seized from him. The remand report stated that he should be taken into custody again for questioning.
In the history of combined Andhra Pradesh and also later after the bifurcation of the state, it is the first time that a DG level police officer was arrested in a case.
