The ACB has arrested Ibrahimbagh Assistant Divisional Engineer (ADE) Irugu Ambedkar, who had amassed hundreds of crores in illegal income while performing his duties in the electricity department. Later, he was produced in the ACB court. The judge remanded Ambedkar for 14 days. With this, the ACB officials shifted him to Chanchalguda jail.
The ACB officials found that the total value of the assets seized in Gachibowli and Serilingampalli in Hyderabad city, including Medak, Nalgonda, Rangareddy and Nizamabad, is over Rs. 300 crore in the open market. In addition, it found that there was a bank balance of Rs. 78 lakh and another Rs. 36 lakh in investments in shares. Another Rs. 5.5 lakh cash was found in the car, said ACB DSP Anand.
During these raids, Rs. 2.18 crore was seized from the house of Satish, who is suspected of being a benami of Ambedkar. ACB officials received complaints that Erugu Ambedkar, who works as an Assistant Divisional Engineer (ADE) in the Operations Department of Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company, had amassed huge illegal assets.
With this, ACB officials conducted searches at a total of 11 places simultaneously since Tuesday morning, including the ADE office in Ibrahimbagh, Ambedkar’s house in Manikonda, and the houses of relatives, close friends, and benami. ACB officials said that the bank lockers have to be opened. They said that details regarding gold ornaments and other assets will be revealed soon and that searches are ongoing.
Ambedkar, along with his wife Sunanda, started the Inter Chemicals company on April 23, 2023, with an investment of Rs. 3 crore at his house in TNGO Colony. Although he works in the power department, he is the director of Inter Chemicals, according to the information given to the ROC.
It seems that the management responsibilities of the company have been entrusted to Gurram Ramakrishna. ACB officials suspect that Ambedkar invested most of his illegal income in real estate. There are allegations that Ambedkar, who has been working as an ADE in key areas (Patancheru, Gachibowli, KPHB, Ibrahimbagh) for the past ten years, has committed large-scale irregularities.
