ED Issued Notices To KTR Asking Him To Appear on Jan 7

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has issued notices to BRS Working President KTR in the Formula E  car racing case. The ED has ordered KTR to appear for questioning on January 7. The ED has also issued notices to senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar and former HMDA chief engineer BLN Reddy.

The ED has said in the notices that Arvind and BLN Reddy should appear for questioning on January 2 and 3. The ED has initiated an investigation under the PMLA based on the ACB FIR. The High Court has directed the police not to arrest BRS Working President KTR in the ACB case related to the Formula E car race till the 31st of this month.

The orders issued during the previous hearing were extended. The ACB’s plea to lift the orders not to arrest KTR was rejected. It was concluded that orders cannot be issued without hearing the arguments. The government was directed to file a counter. The next hearing was adjourned to 31st of this month.

High Court Judge Justice K Laxman issued orders to this effect on Friday. KTR challenged the case registered by the ACB on 19th of this month in the High Court regarding the e-car race. KTR filed a quash petition in the High Court in the form of a lunch motion on 20th of this month, seeking to quash the case.

In the hearing held on Friday, senior advocate Gandra Mohan Rao, representing KTR, argued that the case was registered unfairly due to a political conspiracy. He requested that the interim orders previously issued not to arrest KTR in this case be extended.

Later, DSP Majid Ali Khan filed a counter-affidavit on behalf of the ACB on KTR’s petition. On this occasion, he reiterated several points in the FIR. He said that the investigation of this case is currently in the preliminary stage and it is not right for the court to intervene and give relief to the accused at such a time.

Stating that the courts have only limited powers in such matters, he cited the previous judgments of the Supreme Court. After this argument, the High Court rejected the ACB’s appeal and extended the interim orders not to arrest KTR.
