EC sought report on security breach during PM Modi’s visit

he Election Commission of India (ECI) has sought a report on the security failure of the AP Police in the first public meeting held in Boppudi near Chilakaluripet of Palnadu district,  jointly by TDP, Jana Sena and BJP. It was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The ECI directed the Chief Election Commissioner of the state, Mukund Kumar Meena, who has been saying that the Prime Minister’s security issue is not within their purview and that they have forwarded complaints received to the Union Home Ministry, for further action.

The Union Home Ministery and PMO also said to be worried over several security flaws during Modi’s public meeting last Sunday. Due to this, Prime Minister Modi himself had to intervene in the middle of the meeting.

The ECI responded on Thursday as the NDA leaders had already complained about this and directed Meena to send a detailed report within two days.

On March 17, a large number of people assembled at the NDA meeting held in Boppudi. The NDA leaders have already complained to the CEO that the Palnadu SP and other police have failed to make security arrangements on this occasion.

They complained that the police acted negligently, especially in clearing the traffic on the national highway and in controlling the crowd in the meeting attended by Modi. They urged action against the Palnadu SP and other officials who were responsible for this.

ECI seems to be waiting for a detailed report from MK Meena before taking action against erred  AP police officials. NDA leaders in their complaint blamed both DGP and state Intelligence Chief, behind Palnadu SP, alleging intentional plot to disturb the meeting.
