Kollywood actor Dhanush, who recently returned with a box-office hit with Kubera, is presently busy with the shoot of his forthcoming movie Idly Kadai. Though he is progressing with new ventures, talks regarding the highly anticipated sequel of his cult movie Vada Chennai have again moved to the centre.
Released in 2018 under the helm of Vetrimaaran, Vada Chennai gained cult status due to its gritty narrative and strong performances. Ever since, fans have been impatiently waiting for Vada Chennai 2. For the last seven years, rumors regarding the sequel never ceased, but no confirmation was made.
Shattering the silence, Vetrimaaran recently provided an update. The renowned director announced that he is presently occupied with directing STR 49 with actor Simbu and only after finishing that film will he turn his attention to Dhanush’s Vada Chennai sequel.
Yet, the public is responding with circumspection. Some feel heartened by Vetrimaaran’s announcement, while others point out that such assurances have been extended for almost three years with little positive movement. Adding to the uncertainty, the actor Dhanush himself has never clearly spoken of the sequel, which has left his fan base wondering about the future of the movie.
In the meantime, Vetrimaaran’s full focus is on STR 49. After that film gets completed, things are likely to become clear about Vada Chennai 2. Meanwhile, fans will have to remain patiently in wait as Dhanush keeps going with multiple projects, keeping interest intact in one of the most eagerly awaited sequels of Tamil cinema.
