Dhanush Accuses Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan of Unprofessionalism on NRD Sets, Seeks 1 Crore in Ongoing Legal Battle

The ongoing legal conflict between Tamil actor Dhanush and the couple Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan has been intensified further. The controversy between them began prior to the release of Nayanthara’s documentary, titled “Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale.”

As is well known, Dhanush has taken legal action against the couple, alleging unauthorized use of clips from his film ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan,’ produced under his banner Wunderbar Films. Following the court’s rejection of a plea for an interim injunction, considering that the actress’ documentary was released despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Dhanush’s production house, Wunderbar Films, is now demanding Rs. 1 crore in damages from Nayanthara and the documentary’s streaming platform, Netflix.

In his affidavit, Dhanush accuses the couple Nayanthara and Vighnesh Shivan of unprofessionalism on the sets of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. The affidavit reads, “The fourth respondent (Mr. Vignesh Shivan) unnecessarily began focusing his attention only on the third respondent (Ms. Nayanthara) ignoring the other cast and crew of the movie by taking multiple re-takes of scenes which involved the third respondent in order to make sure that only she gives her best performance and not prioritizing the other actors.”

Earlier, Nayanthara had openly lashed out at actor-director Dhanush in an open letter for denying permission to use the film’s clips, expressing her frustration on social media. With both parties now airing grievances publicly, the next hearing in the case is scheduled for April 9, 2025.
