DGP says sensational cases Transferred To CID To Avoid obstacles

AP DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao said that certain sensational cases have been transferred to the investigation officer with higher rank or the CID only to avoid any obstacles or difficulties in the process of investigation.

He referred to the cases like Bombay actress Kadambari Jethwani, attack on TDP office and also chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s residence and custodial torture of Raghuram Krishnam Raju.

He mentioned that an inspector level officer in CBI will not hesitate to interrogate the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax. Whereas, he said the same officer was afraid to question a senior IPS officer. That’s-why, as in some cases in the state senior IPS officers are mentioned as accused, he said the investigation has been assigned to higher-rank officers or transferred to the CID.

As the lower-ranking people were not enough to interrogate the accused when they were high-ranking people, he said they have taken this decision. However, he made it clear that the police are ready to work with full morale and there is no need to compromise on law and order.

Moreover, he asserted that every case will be investigated impartially and the culprits will be sent to jail. He said that on the occasion of Police Martyrs’ Remembrance Day (October 21), various programs will be conducted across the state for ten days. He said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will attend the commemoration meeting of police martyrs in Vijayawada on 21st.

The DGP said that the Cabinet has approved the formation of a task force on the cultivation of ganja. 459 men of various levels of the police force led by an ADG or IG rank officer are determined to crack down on ganja.

He said that there were legal hurdles in the appointment of 6,100 constables in the police department. He said that they will overcome them and complete the recruitment process in five to six months.

The DGP said that the state government has not given a single penny to the police welfare fund in the last five years. However, between 2014-19, the then government had given Rs.35 crores, and this time CM Chandrababu expressed hope that there is a chance to announce a lot in the commemoration meeting.
