Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has lauded the upcoming mythological epic Ramayana, calling it one of the most extraordinary cinematic ventures on a global scale. Speaking during a panel discussion at the Waves Summit alongside producer Namit Malhotra, Fadnavis expressed admiration for the film’s production values and vision.
The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and jointly produced by Bollywood’s leading production houses including Allu Aravind’s banner, is being touted as one of India’s most prestigious and expensive productions. A special visual preview of Ramayana was showcased at the event.
“There are countless powerful stories in Indian tradition, and our art, theatre, and music have ancient roots. With projects like Ramayana, we are merging that legacy with advanced technology,” said Fadnavis. “I visited the film’s sets along with the Prime Minister and was amazed by the scale and quality. This is how stories should be told to future generations. I am confident that this film will be one of the greatest ever made globally.”
Actress Bhumi Pednekar, who also attended the summit, praised the visual effects, saying that Ramayana would transport viewers to another world.
The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash in the role of Ravana. Sunny Deol will portray Hanuman, Lara Dutta will appear as Kaikeyi, and Rakul Preet Singh will take on the role of Shurpanakha. Ramayana is slated to release in two parts — the first during Diwali 2026 and the second in Diwali 2027. Reports suggest that shooting for the key characters is nearing completion.
