Bollywood star Deepika Padukone has addressed reports regarding her withdrawal from major film projects, citing industry work culture and professional challenges. In a recent interview with international media, the actress spoke candidly about long working hours in the Indian film industry and the pressures faced by leading actors.
Deepika highlighted that many top actors, including superstars, work only eight-hour days and often limit shooting schedules to weekdays, avoiding weekends. “This isn’t a secret, but it rarely makes headlines. As an actor with self-respect, I cannot accept things that trouble me,” she said, emphasizing that she chose not to name individuals publicly to keep the focus on the broader issue rather than specific personalities.
When asked about facing difficulties due to her professional stance, she explained, “I have encountered this multiple times. I usually deal with challenges silently, as silent battles are the most dignified way to handle situations. Sometimes circumstances necessitate speaking out, but my approach has always been discreet.”
Deepika’s comments come amid discussions about her absence from films such as the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD and Prabhas-Sandeep Vanga’s Spirit. While initially considered for these projects, she ultimately stepped away, with Tripti Dimri reportedly replacing her in Spirit. The precise reasons for her withdrawal continue to draw speculation among industry insiders and fans.
