In the last five years several IPS officers have kept aside IPC, but followed former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s orders to harass, torture and locked in illegal cases against political opponents. Sixteen IPS officers are now waiting without any posting.
Now, the police authorities are preparing ground to register criminal cases against some of such IPS officers. Authorities have already registered an FIR against former intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu and former CID chief Sunil Kumar in Guntur for illegally detaining and torturing former MP Raghuramakrishnam Raju. They also named then-additional SP Vijay Paul in the case.
Authorities are now preparing similar cases against IPS officers such as Kantirana, Tana, Vishal Gunni, KKN Anburajan, Fakeerappa Kaginelli, and Ch.Vijaya Rao also. Authorities alleged that PSR Anjaneyulu played a key role in framing cases against Achchennayudi in Srikakulam and JC Prabhakar Reddy and his son in Tadipatri.
TDP leaders also alleged that police harassment led to the death of former speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao. Previously, authorities jailed many IAS officers for colluding with Jaganmohan Reddy’s quest for money when YS Rajasekhar Reddy was Chief Minister. Now, similar cases are reportedly targeting IPS officers who took the law into their own hands.
As SP of Guntur Vishal Gunni became familiar by using lathi against Amaravati farmers at the state assembly and also he became notorious by registered SC Atrocities cases against SCs only. Now, he became center figure in the horrible torture of a Bollywood actress and her family recently.
KKN Anburajan, who served as Kadapa SP for the longest time in history, and Fakkirappa Caginelli, who served as Anantapur SP, were facing allegations of harassing CBI officers, when they were probing into YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case.
Ten days ago, State DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao received a letter from the CBI Director in Delhi reportedly asking AP police to register FIR against these two IPS officers for obstructing the investigation by CBI.
It seems that the government is also moving to take action against former Nellore SP Vijaya Rao, who acted unilaterally in the Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy case against former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy in Nellore.
