The 36th governing body meeting of CRDA, under the chairmanship of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu has decided to revive Amaravati capital works, that were stalled during YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s regime and soon immediately start work for the construction of `new cities’ within the capital region.
The Chief Minister said that efforts should be made to set up top 10 colleges and hospitals of the country should be set up here. He said that the construction of a four-lane road with a central divider on the embankment will continue. He said that steps will be taken to construct four iconic bridges over the Krishna river to connect Amaravati and once again study will be done on the iconic bridge at Ibrahimpatnam.
Urban Development Minister P. Narayana shared the details of the review with the media. The area of the core capital city is 217 square kilometers. “We will establish a road grid from east to west in the city and connect it to the national highway. There is a road for every kilometer. We will take steps to connect E-5, 11, 13, 15 roads to the National Highway”, he said. He said they will complete all these works in a year.
“Where there are hills, roads should be connected to the National Highway from their sides. Four iconic bridges will be constructed on the Krishna River through the inner and outer ring roads to be constructed in Amaravati. There are already two normal bridges over the river, and another will soon be available”, he added.
Minister Dr Narayana said that if the outer ring road is constructed by the center, the inner one will be constructed by the state government. Western and Eastern bypasses are coming to Amaravati. The Eastern Bypass Road, which has already been taken up, will be completed soon.
“The authorities should focus on the land allotments made to 130 institutions in the past and their current situation. Those who have acquired land in the past should be clear in how many days they have to start construction again. Allotment of land should be done only for those who will make Amaravati a center of wealth creation”, Chandrababu said.
It was decided to re-examine previous land allotments and an opportunity should be given to interested companies. Construction of inner ring road and expansion of Karakatta road into four lanes should be progressed.
