CRDA is moving forward with the aim of speeding up the construction work of the capital Amaravati. As part of that, AP CRDA and Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) have invited tenders for various construction works in Amaravati. Tenders were invited for various constructions in the capital area for Rs. 2,300 crore on Wednesday.
Tenders were invited for Rs. 1470 crore through CRDA and Rs. 852 crore through ADC. With these funds, trunk infra works like roads, fresh water supply, power etc. will be undertaken in several zones. Also, tenders have been invited for balance flood mitigation construction works in relation to Neerukonda reservoir in some other zones.
However, the government has set the final deadline for submitting these tenders as January 22nd. The government has decided to invite tenders for constructions worth approximately Rs. 31,000 crore till Sankranti. In 2014, after bifurcation of the united Andhra Pradesh state, the AP became a state without a capital.
At the same time, the AP assembly elections were held. In this election, the Andhra Pradesh voter voted for the TDP. With this, the government under Chandrababu Naidu came to power. The then government selected all 29 villages in the Thullur area of the united Guntur district as the capital area. It was also named Amaravati.
For this, the then Chandrababu government was able to convince farmers to contribute their fertile lands and the foundation stone for the construction of the capital was also laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The then opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy also announced his support for this capital Amaravati in the assembly. The construction of the capital was also started.
However, after coming to power in 2019 elections, YS Jaganmohan Reddy announced in the assembly that there will be three capitals for AP. The farmers who gave land for the capital have taken up agitations, protests, dharnas and padayatras. But CM YS Jagan has acted as if he had caught a rabbit with three legs. Moreover, CM YS Jagan during his tenure has not laid a single brick and stone in the name of a government office in any area.
Now, after returning to power in the 2024 elections, Chandrababu Naidu announced construction of the capital city Amaravati will be the first priority of his government and started work on a mission mode.
