CPM state secretary V. Srinivasa Rao has demanded the alliance parties- TDP and Jana Sena to reveal their stand on the issue of delimitation of parliamentary constituencies. He said that all parties from all the states of South India except AP came together and attended the meeting organized by the DMK on delimitation in Chennai.
However, he warned that the stance of the alliance parties in AP is detrimental to the interests of the state and will lead to a decrease in the importance of the state in Parliament. He accused them of damaging the interests of the state for friendship with Modi, and that the TDP and Jana Sena are dancing like cats on the wall in the state.
At the same time, he alleged that even though the YSRCP did not attend the DMK meeting, it at least wrote a letter, while the alliance parties did not do even that and deliberately stayed away from the meeting.
He questioned that Jana Sena President Pawan Kalyan had said that the leaders of the respective parties should raise the issue of delimitation in Parliament first and asked why the Jana Sena party members did not raise the issue in the Lok Sabha.
Srinivasa Rao wanted to clarify whether delimitation is a benefit or a loss?. He criticized Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for diverting the real issue by saying that 75 seats in the Assembly would be increased for women without talking about it.
He said that there are currently 25 parliamentary seats in the state, and he wanted to say whether they will decrease or increase? He explained that if seats are allocated on the basis of population, most states in the country will suffer, except for one or two states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
He made it clear that this will benefit only BJP-ruled states and will not increase seats for anyone else in the country. He deplored that all the states in South India have reduced their population keeping in mind development, and if it is done on the basis of population, then the representation in Parliament of the states that have contributed to the development of the country will decrease.
Srinivasa Rao lamented that the BJP is acting in a conspiracy for this, while the TDP and Janasena are acting in a way that supports it in the state.
