CPI Leader Narayana Raises Concerns Over Adulterated Ghee in Tirupati Laddu

Over the past few days, people have raised allegations that the preparation of the famous Tirupati Laddu prasadam used adulterated ghee, sparking a political uproar. CPI National Secretary Narayana made some intriguing remarks on the issue, stating that when prices drop, quality tends to decline as well.

He accused the previous government of rampant corruption on the Tirumala hills, alleging that they appointed executives through backdoor means, leading to actions that eroded the faith of devotees. Narayana further criticized the ruling administration for handing over board positions to looters, causing harm to the devotees’ trust.

“When Jagan became Chief Minister, he introduced the reverse tendering policy. This policy not only failed but also became detrimental. We saw what happened in Polavaram. He talked about reverse tendering, changed contractors, but how much did he actually save? In Tirupati, officials applied reverse tendering to the ghee used for laddus. They removed the old system and implemented a new one. Previously, they priced ghee at ₹500, but they reduced it to ₹320. When quality decreases, the price also falls. If quality improves, prices rise. The same happened with the ghee. Due to the price drop, adulteration occurred. The matter went to the laboratory, and the lab confirmed that it was not pure cow ghee but adulterated ghee,” Narayana explained.
