Court Directs FIR Against Daggubati Family In Deccan Kitchen Hotel Demolition Case

The Daggubati family, which is a renowned name in the Telugu film industry, is now involved in a legal battle over the demolition of the Deccan Kitchen Hotel in Hyderabad. Though the High Court clearly gave an order to keep the status quo, the family went on to demolish the hotel, bringing them under a probe ordered by the Nampally court.

An FIR has been filed against Tollywood celebrities Venkatesh, Suresh Babu, Rana Daggubati, and Abhiram, with the charges including sections 448, 452, 458, and 120B. The case stems from an ongoing property dispute involving the hotel’s owner, Nandakumar. Nandakumar initially leased land from Venkatesh in Filmnagar to run the Deccan Kitchen restaurant, but things took a turn when he leased additional land from Rana for further construction. When the lease expired, Nandakumar continued building, sparking a conflict. This led to complaints and actions from the GHMC, culminating in partial demolition of the hotel in 2022.

The Daggubati family tore down the entire structure in January 2024, violating an order of the High Court. This led to Nandakumar filing a case against the Daggubatis, alleging that the demolition resulted in Rs. 20 crores of loss. The Daggubatis claim that tearing it down was the only viable option to settle the issue, but the court’s judgment has further escalated the issue, ending up with prosecution charges.

This case has created much discussion not only in the legal circles but also because of the celebrities involved in the film industry. People are increasingly concerned about the powers and influence that such powerful families may exercise over legal matters. With the investigation now underway, the case is set to continue attracting attention in both legal and entertainment circles.
