The general meeting of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has turned into unruly as corporators have created rucks. It has witnessed clashes between AIMIM and BJP Corporators. They exchanged verbal duels and also physical clashes.
The BRS Corporators also stormed Mayor podium demanding G. Vijayalakshmi to prove majority support or quit the Mayor post for not having majority to hold the office. Soon after the council meeting started, the BJP and BRS Corporators created ruckus in the house by showing placards against each other.
Situation went out of control when the two groups jostled each other . Despite warning from the Chair, the Corporators shouted slogans against the GHMC. This fight which started on the issue of showing placards between BJP and MIM went to a beating situation.
Unable to control the council, GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi left the meeting amidst the tense situation. From the morning, the council went on without a hitch. The BJP corporators protested in the council hall on physical attack by MIM corporators and demanded an immediate apology. BJP corporators protested by sitting in front of the podium.
Corporators surrounded the Mayor and GHMC Commissioner Amrapali podiums demanding answers for the substandard water supply. BJP and BRS corporators demanded the HMWSSB MD Ashok Reddy to be present at the house meeting. While the Commissioner AMrapali tried to explain that the MD was on leave as he is suffering from viral fever, corporators continued to create ruckus.
As the situation went out of control, the Mayor called Water Board MD Ashok Reddy on phone and asked him to attend the meeting. The official turned down the Mayor’s plea to attend the meeting due to fever.
Earlier, BRS corporators surrounded the mayor’s podium shortly after the council meeting began. They raised slogans against Mayor Vijayalakshmi. Placards were displayed protesting her party defection. Several corporators got into an argument with the Mayor. When BRS corporators accused the Mayor of being a turncoat she alleged that the party forced her to make that move.
“You don’t have any subject to talk on, because of which you are creating ruckus. Do you know the rules,” she asked the corporators in a harsh tone. Mayor expressed her anger and the meeting was adjourned twice. As there was no change even after she walked out of her meeting.
