The Congress slams the BJP Lok Sabha poll manifesto as a jumla patra (rhetorical document), with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge saying Modi’s guarantee is a “warranty of jumlas” as he has failed to fulfil promises made in the past.
The Congress also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of not fulfilling promises made on issues such as jobs, doubling of farmers’ incomes, and price rise and inflation, and alleged that he was now shifting goalposts by talking about 2047 instead.
Kharge said the youth are agitating for jobs, and prices of food items have skyrocketed owing to inflation and people are troubled by it, but the manifesto has nothing to say about it. Modi has only increased unemployment and inflation in the last 10 years, he charged.
“No accountability for old guarantees, just empty jugglery of words! ‘Modi ki Guarantee’ equals ‘warranty of jumlas (rhetoric),” he said in a post in Hindi, posing 14 questions to the PM.
Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday termed the BJP’s Lok Sabha election manifesto a “jumla patra (rhetorical document)” and said it makes no mention of the promises made by the Centre in the last 10 years.
Senior AAP leader and Delhi minister Atishi said the manifesto of the BJP is nothing but a jumla patra. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised two crore jobs every year to the youngsters of the country, but the jumla patra has no data on job creation in the last 10 years,” Atishi said.
The BRS slammed the manifesto for being filled with mere sloganeering and lacking concrete promises. RS senior leader and former Minister T Harish Rao said “the manifesto overlooks demands for income tax exemptions for the middle class. The BJP fails to promise tax exemptions for workers and artisans, ignoring their contributions.”
Pointing out that despite previous promises to create two crore jobs per year over the last 10 years, he said the BJP had failed to implement it.
