Several opposition leaders majorly from Congress met Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla and requested him to come back to the House and they assured him to maintain the dignity of the Chair. It is learned that Om Birla is reportedly upset with the repeated disruptions in the house and didn’t chair the session. Lok Sabha witnessed disruptions on Thursday, as well as the opposition, tried to attack the ruling party on the Manipur issue. Some members entered the Well of the house shouting slogans and displaying placards.
Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury stated that the Speaker is their custodian and they want him in the house. BJP member Rajendra Agrawal said that his message will be conveyed to the Speaker in the right manner.
During Question Hour, only two questions and Supplementaries were taken up. Agrawal who was in the chair in the absence of Om Birla requested the members to maintain dignity and said that question hour should be allowed to continue.
