Congress Faults Revanth Reddy over Debacle In Lok Sabha polls

Congress high-command is said to be taking it seriously on chief minister Revanth Reddy style of functioning in Telangana after the party’s failure in getting double digit Lok Sabha seats from the state. Giving a target of 14 out of 17 Lok Sabha seats, the party is estimated to win atleast 12 seats in the state.

However, it has won only 8 seats and moreover the BJP also won an equal number of 8 seats. While Congress has 64 MLAs, BJP has only 8 MLAs in the state. The growth of BJP’s seats and also vote share is causing worry for the Congress.

Revanth Reddy tried to pacify party high-command stating that due to understanding between BJP and BRS, BRS votes shifted to BJP at the cost of Congress. Congress Telangana in-charge Smt. Dipadas Munshi also indicated the same in her report.

But, Congress leadership said to be not satisfied with this argument and its own internal sources conveyed a different version. Party sources found fault with Revanth Reddy from selection of candidates to lack of coordination between ministers, who were inchares of Lok Sabha constituencies and MLAs.

Party leadership felt that Telangana Congress failed to give a united fight in the Lok Sabha elections, as in the case of Assembly elections. Moreover, Revanth Reddy’s unilateral decisions and actions alienated him from his cabinet colleagues and other party leaders.

To go into depth of problems prevailing in Telangana Congress, the AICC has formed a three-member committee to ascertain reasons that led to the party’s poor performance in Lok Sabha elections. This indicates the party leadership’s decision to have an independent approach towards Telangana without depending upon only Revanth Reddy.
