The 10th Telangana Formation Day on June 2 turned out to be a political tug of war between ruling Congress and opposition BRS. Both the parties are streamlining to claim the credit for the state formation.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy confining celebrations for one day on June 2 and mostly making it a government sponsored party affair, by inviting Congress former chief Sonia Gandhi. He met her on Tuesday evening in New Delhi and formally invited her for the celebrations.
He is planning to felicitate her for `giving Telangana state’, along with several people, who played key role during Telnagna agitation. He has given the task of preparing `Telangana fighters’ list to TJS chief Kodanda Ram. He said they will be invited officially and felicitated on this occasion.
There was also discussion to invite BRS chief and former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for these celebrations and felicitate him along with Sonia Gandhi. However, till now there is no official confirmation.
On the otherhand, BRS is making a move to celebrate the festival for three days, starting from June 1. BRS is gearing up for a three-day grand celebration to commemorate the 10th Telangana state Formation Day.
While Revanth Reddy decided to confine celebrations for a grand show at the parade ground, the BRS has decided to celebrate the decade in a grand way across the state. KCR called upon the party ranks to organize the closing ceremony of Telangana state’s birth decade celebrations.
The celebrations will kick off on June 1 at 5 PM with a candlelight rally from the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial in Gun Park to the Amara Jyothi memorial at Tank Bund. This event is being organised to pay homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana. BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao along with numerous Telangana activists and citizens, will participate in the event.
On June 2, the State Formation Day celebrations will be held at Telangana Bhavan, the party’s headquarters. KCR will hoist the national flag at 9.30 am and later the party flag, on the occasion. Grand celebrations will be organised in all district headquarters by the party district presidents on June 3. The activities will include hoisting of the party flag, followed by various service activities such as distribution of fruits and food to the needy.
