CM Revanth says No way To Go Further on 42% BC Reservation, Discontent with party’s Mute Response

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has reportedly expressed his inability to move forward on 42% BC reservation as he could not get any support from the party high-command or the central government. Stating that he has done everything he can to provide 42% reservation, made it clear that there is no way to go any further.

He is reported to have told PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud that the immediate task before us is whether to provide party-based reservations in the local body elections or to go for elections in the same way as the old government. In the meeting that lasted for over an hour and a half between the two on Monday, Revanth also expressed discontent over lack of support from the party high-command.

Revanth Reddy has expressed disappointment that neither our people (Congress Party) nor the central government in Delhi have paid any attention to the efforts we have made in the state. He deplored the fact that party leader Rahul Gandhi did not even come to the Jantar Mantar dharna.

He cautioned that “if we try to escape by pretending to blame the central government, that too will backfire and we have no other option except to raise our hands”. The PCC has decided to hold a PAC meeting on the 16th or 17th of this month as a final effort. The PAC meeting will explain all the efforts they have made on the issue of 42% reservation for BCs and come to a decision on BC reservations and local body elections with the opinions of the majority leaders.

The Chief Minister also said to be angry over the attitude of state Congress incharge Meenakshi Natarajan and starting Janahita Padayatra, without taking other leaders in the state into confidence. He felt the Padayatra, which was organized in a haphazard manner, has become a headache. He asked Mahesh Kumar Goud, ‘Why did she organize it? Who did she ask? Anna?’.

He also asked Mahesh Kumar Goud, ‘Why did she (Meenakshi Natarajan) go to the Sigachi Chemical Industry incident in Patancheru, you were with her. Did she tell you anything?’ It is learnt that he expressed his concern to the PCC chief, saying, ‘What does her leaving after I have examined and made the announcement indicate? Is she running a parallel government in the state?’.
