CM Revanth Reviews Medaram Temple Development, Calls For National Recognition of Tribal Jatara

Mulugu: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday reviewed ongoing development works at the Sammakka-Saralamma temple in Medaram, Mulugu district, highlighting his government’s commitment to tribal welfare. After visiting the temple, he met with officials to discuss progress and future plans. Speaking at a public gathering, he described the temple development project as both an emotional and administrative responsibility and emphasized that the government would allocate sufficient resources for its completion.

Revanth raised concerns over the lack of central funding for the Medaram Jatara, despite substantial allocations for the Kumbh Mela. He urged the central government to grant the tribal festival national recognition and release dedicated funds. “With the blessings of Sammakka and Saralamma, we began our padayatra from this gadde on February 6, 2023, to address challenges in Telangana. Previous administrations neglected temple development, but our government is ready to sanction any necessary resources, ensuring participation of tribals, priests, and traditional families,” he said.

The Chief Minister outlined plans to complete construction within 100 days, emphasizing permanent structures built with clay that can withstand natural adversities. He also called for proper water retention in the Jampanna Vagu and stressed local community involvement in all works. “We aim to complete the works before the Maha Jatara and make this year’s celebrations grand. Local participation and cooperation are key,” he added.

During a prior review meeting, Revanth consulted priests and tribal representatives to gather feedback on the development plans. He highlighted that the blessings of Sammakka and Saralamma inspire courage and perseverance among tribal communities, forming the foundation for a people-centric government.

He further emphasized preserving traditions while developing the temple. “Our objective is to respect customs, including ceremonial practices, and to ensure that the history and spirit of tribal struggles are passed on to future generations,” he said, reaffirming his government’s commitment to both development and cultural preservation.
