CM Revanth Reddy says caste census Is Not Just Data collection, But A Mega Health checkup

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said that the caste census survey is not just data collection, but a mega health checkup for Telangana. He revealed that as per the promise made by Rahul Gandhi, the caste census survey has been successfully conducted in the state and that this report will be useful for the upliftment of the weaker sections and implementation of social justice in the state.

He said that the government will take further steps after discussing the issues and suggestions of the expert committee in the cabinet. The expert committee has given a grade on backwardness by caste. It has submitted its 300-page report to the government in the economic and educational sectors.

In a meeting held at the MCHRD in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, experts under the chairmanship of Justice Sudarshan Reddy, Chairman of the Independent Expert Working Group, met with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM asked the expert committee to study the differences between urban and rural areas and the reasons for this, identify the needs of the people and give appropriate suggestions.

The expert committee was of the opinion that this survey is scientific, authentic and reliable. The report included the Composite Backwardness Index (CBI) index regarding the backwardness of the 242 castes mentioned in the caste census. In the report prepared in more than 300 pages, the CBI gave scores and ranks on backwardness of 242 castes.

The expert committee is of the opinion that the survey conducted by Telangana is historic and will become a role model for the country. For the first time in the country, the Telangana state government has conducted a social, economic and caste survey with the aim of social justice and empowerment of all communities. In the first phase, the survey was conducted across the state for 50 days from November 6 to December 25, 2024.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that based on the survey analysis, wealth and resources will be reached to the underprivileged communities. He said that such a scientific survey has not been done anywhere in the country. He said that the caste survey undertaken by the Telangana state government and the analysis based on the survey will change the direction of this country.
