Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s unusual and sudden visit to the house of senior Congress leader K Jana Reddy on Monday, along with another senior party leader K Keshava Reddy raising discussions in Congress circles. Many felt that due to political insecurity due to discontent within the party and aggressive BRS attitude Revanth Reddy is said to be seen clueless.
Incidentally, it is the second time in nearly two months he visited Jana Reddy’s house. For the first time, on December 11, 2023, soon after taking oath as Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy politely went to meet Jana Reddy. Since then, the CM has not visited his house again. He is also known for consulting the senior party leader, even through his ministers on any critical issue of governance or party affairs in the state.
Party circles are expressing surprise over his visiting Jana Reddy’s house twice in the last two months. Several senior Congress leaders are openly expressing anger alleging Revanth Reddy ignoring them and giving preference only to those who defected from other parties or newcomers.
But, suddenly he visited Jana Reddy’s house last month on March 6. It was stated that in view of the uproar created over his government’s SC classification and BC reservation issues, he had gone to Jana Reddy for advice and suggestions.
Now, again on Monday, he went to Jana Reddy’s house. Various discussions are going on among the party leaders on this. Though it was stated that he went to his house seeking his involvement on the issue of peace talks with Maoists, due to his previous experience in 2014, taking active part as Home Minister.
However, Revanth Reddy’s visit is said to be part of his damage control efforts after the success of the BRS silver jubilee meeting, KCR exposing the failures of the Congress government to the people, and BRS declaring war on the government.
Similarly, the Chief Minister is unable to take up cabinet expansion for the last 15 months. Though it was almost cleared for expansion by Ugadi, due to a letter dashed by Jana Reddy to the party high-command seeking equal representation for all districts in the cabinet, stalled the process.
It is learnt that the meeting lasted for an hour, but more than half an hour of it was spent talking in secret. At a time when the party high command is losing confidence in Revanth Reddy’s governance, the Chief Minister seems to have realized that party top leadership is giving credit to Jana Reddy’s advice. It is known that in the presence of Jana Reddy, he also contacted Congress senior leader Digvijay Singh over phone.
