Recently, Telangana Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, inducted two high-transformative initiatives in the region. These new initiatives are two programs: namely, the Rythu Bharosa Scheme and Indiramma Athmeeya Bharosa Scheme; the former directs the financial facilities directly to a landholding tenant and the tenant farmers, thereby ensuring the wide wellbeing of its people.
Rythu Bharosa Scheme
The Telangana Cabinet decided on the final details of the Rythu Bharosa Scheme, which is to be implemented from January 26, 2025. The scheme mainly includes the following features:
Financial Assistance: ₹12,000 per acre per year for all eligible agricultural lands.
Increased Support: The previous government offered ₹10,000 per acre; the current administration has raised this to ₹12,000 after evaluating the state’s financial capabilities.
Eligibility Criteria:
Benefits will be extended to all agricultural lands, except:
Lands unsuitable for cultivation.
Lands converted for non-agricultural use (NALA).
Lands used for real estate or industrial purposes.
There is no limit on the number of acres, ensuring broad coverage for landholding farmers.
The Chief Minister emphasized that this initiative eliminates confusion, providing clarity and assurance to the state’s farmers.
Indiramma Athmeeya Bharosa Scheme
In a move to address the needs of tenant farmers, the government also launched the Indiramma Athmeeya Bharosa Scheme.
Annual Assistance: ₹12,000 per tenant farmer.
Objective: To offer financial support and recognition to tenant farmers, who have historically been excluded from similar welfare programs.
A New Era of Farmer Welfare
By introducing these two comprehensive schemes, the Telangana government aims to build on past initiatives while addressing the evolving needs of the agricultural community. CM Revanth Reddy’s announcement reflects a commitment to improving the livelihoods of both landholding and tenant farmers, fostering economic stability and growth in the state’s agricultural sector.
