Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy criticized the previous BRS government, stating that unresolved water disputes with Andhra Pradesh were a consequence of its failure to complete key irrigation projects during its decade-long rule. He asserted that had these projects been finished, the current issues would not have arisen.
Addressing the media, Revanth Reddy recalled that his party had come to power by unseating former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao while he was the PCC chief. He questioned whether the position of Chief Minister was insufficient to criticize KCR, taking a direct dig at his predecessor.
Responding to MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga’s remarks, the Chief Minister stated that he holds him in high regard but clarified that competitive exam results are not linked to reservation policies. He questioned why Manda Krishna was speaking in a manner resembling BJP leaders and pointed out that SC categorization does not apply to previously issued job notifications. Any attempts to make changes, he warned, could lead to legal complications.
Regarding the statements made by defected MLAs, Revanth Reddy said he was unaware of their remarks. He alleged that BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao and Union Minister Kishan Reddy were working together.
On financial allocations for irrigation projects, the Chief Minister acknowledged budgetary limitations and emphasized the need for central assistance. He urged the Union government to release funds as per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s past assurances. “If required, we will go to Delhi not just 39 times but even 99 times. What is wrong in seeking funds for Telangana?” he remarked.
