Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed the officials to prepare plans keeping in mind the needs of the coming 25 years with the aim of making Hyderabad a pollution-free city. He said that they should focus on the underground drainage and cable system in the city.
He suggested that the heritage embankments up to ORR should be preserved and developed into tourist areas. He said that the work of the Old City Metro should be expedited. The Chief Minister aspired to develop the Musi River as an iconic landmark for Hyderabad.
He wanted the work of the Musi Riverfront from Himayat Nagar to Gandhi Sarovar to be expedited. The CM, who mentioned that people are facing serious difficulties in cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai due to extreme pollution, said that such a situation should not arise in Hyderabad.
He ordered that polluting industries in the core city be shifted to ORR. He said that problems in cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai should be studied. The Chief Minister held a review meeting on the development of Hyderabad metropolis and said that all the relevant departments should prepare comprehensive DPRs.
The CM ordered that single-use plastic should be banned and that construction waste should not be dumped anywhere in the city. He wanted strict action to be taken against those who do so intentionally. He wanted the fresh water and sewage supply system in Hyderabad city to be completely reformed.
The CM directed the Hyderabad City Water Supply and Sewerage Board to pay special attention to providing better services to the people. He suggested that the board should formulate a special plan on how to utilize its resources.
The CM directed that the guidelines of the Quli Qutub Shahi Urban Development Authority be amended and further strengthened to protect the heritage embankments within the ORR limits and develop them into tourist attractions.
He instructed the officials to speed up the work as the necessary funds have already been released for the metro works in the old city. He warned that delays in permitting and other aspects of the Metro would not be tolerated.
