CM Revanth Reddy Asks To Make Facial Recognition System Mandatory For Teachers, students

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has instructed the officials to increase the quality standards of teaching in all educational institutions in the state, from schools to universities, and accordingly, to make the Facial Recognition System (FRS) system mandatory for teaching staff and students.

He opined that facial recognition will improve attendance and prevent various shortcomings. He held a review of the education department and made it clear that the expenditure on the education sector is being viewed as an investment, not an expense.

He explained that Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka has already appealed to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to ensure that loans taken for the development of the education sector, including Young India Integrated Residential Schools, are not within the FRBM limit.

More than 90 percent of those studying in government educational institutions are BC, SC, ST and minorities, and to confirm this, the officials were instructed to prepare a report on the details of students who studied in government educational institutions in the last ten years.

CM Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Special Secretary Ajith Reddy, Education Secretary Yogita Rana, Higher Education Council Chairman Acharya Balkishta Reddy, Technical Education Commissioner Sridevasena, School Education Director Naveen Nicholas and others participated in the meeting.

CM Revanth Reddy said that it is not right for various departments to undertake the construction of additional rooms, kitchens, toilets and fences under the Education Department. For quality standards of construction, monitoring, sanction of funds and accountability, everything should be under a single department.

The construction work should continue under the leadership of the Telangana Educational Welfare and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TGEWIDC), which is supervising the construction of integrated Gurukuls, he added.

The engineering and other staff required for this organization should be provided on deputation from other departments. Digital lessons in schools and what precautions and measures should be taken to make them easy for students to understand were discussed. Plans were made to increase the passing percentage, he said.
