CM Revanth Reddy Another U-turn, surrender To Dil Raju over `Game Changer’ Ticket Rates

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has become popular as a `U-turn’ leader. It became a routine practice for him to make big announcements and soon after change those policies. After the stampede during the release of the movie Pushpa-2, he announced with a determined voice that ‘there will be no more benefit shows in Telangana. There will be no additional shows. We will not increase ticket prices’.

However, the government took a U-turn even less than a month after making the solemn announcement in the Assembly. Permission was granted for benefit shows, additional shows and increase in ticket prices for the movie ‘Game Changer’ starring Ram Charan and produced by Dil Raju. Orders were issued to this effect on Wednesday.

The words spoken from the floor of the Assembly have become worthless. There has been a discussion that Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy have surrendered to Telangana Film Development Corporation (TGFDC) Chairman Dil Raju.

The government issued orders on Wednesday night allowing additional shows for the film along with an increase in ticket rates. With this, all the positive atmosphere that the Revanth Reddy government had regarding movie tickets was wiped out in an instant. The Telangana government said no only to benefit shows.

On the day of the film’s release, six shows were allowed. On the 10th, permission was given to show benefit shows from 4 am, 6 shows on that day, and five shows from the 11th to the 19th. Moreover, the government has allowed an additional increase in ticket prices by Rs. 150 in multiplexes and Rs. 100 in single screens on the 10th, and by Rs. 100 in multiplexes and Rs. 50 in single screens from 11-19.

Criticism is rife on social media over this decision taken by the government. Are the promises and announcements made by CM Revanth and Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy a mere hoax? Netizens are fuming. ‘Is this the value of the CM’s word in the assembly?’ BRS Social Media Convener Satish Reddy asked in ‘X’ and wondered Isn’t this a quid pro quo? The producer of that film, Dil Raju, is the chairman of FDC, and isn’t it a crime for the government to give GOs to benefit him?, he questioned.
