Amaravati: The Swachh Andhra campaign, launched by the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, is continuing with renewed focus and public participation. As part of the initiative, the state observes the ‘Swachh Andhra’ programme on the third Saturday of every month, with a different theme selected to guide each month’s activities.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday unveiled the theme for April via social media. He announced that the focus this month would be on “E-waste collection and safe recycling,” aligning with the broader vision of achieving a circular economy through responsible waste management.
“In line with our Swarnandhra 2047 vision, we are conducting Swachh Andhra programmes every third Saturday. To keep the momentum and inspire participation, we introduce a new theme each month. This month, we are focusing on the collection of electronic waste and ensuring its safe recycling. Wealth creation from waste is a key step towards building a circular economy,” the Chief Minister stated.
Chandrababu called upon state-level officials, district collectors, elected representatives, MLAs, ministers, NGOs, corporate entities, students, and youth to participate actively in the programme. He also directed authorities to set up e-waste collection centres across the state and engage members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in both rural and urban areas to manage them.
“The slogan for these centres should be ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.’ I urge all stakeholders to contribute towards the success of the Swachh Andhra initiative and help take the Swarnandhra mission forward,” he added.
