NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bheri’s team met him at the Secretariat on Friday. The CM gave a presentation on the opportunities and aspirations in the state.

However, the state has not yet recovered from the problems of division and the economic disputes between the two states were explained to NITI Aayog. The CM also explained that in addition to having to give up Hyderabad, AP is a completely agricultural state, the previous government’s negligence on capital expenditure for five years, and lack of infrastructure.

CM Chandrababu told the NITI Aayog team that despite the administrative difficulties in the state, they are working hard to take the lead in development. He said that being the state with the third largest coastline in the country, it has the largest connectivity with ports and highways.

He said that AP is a gateway to East and Southeast Asia with three industrial corridors. He said that attracting investments in renewable energy and data technology are the main positive aspects of AP. The CM requested NITI Aayog to provide support to transform Tirupati-Amaravati into regional growth hubs along with the Visakhapatnam Economic Region, which is one of the four growth hubs in the country.

The CM expressed his desire for NITI Aayog to play a key role in data collection, best practices, strategic partnerships, attracting private investment, FDI, resource mobilization, etc. As part of this, a review should be conducted every 3 months.

He proposed that the AP government and NITI Aayog work together in industrial corridors, skilling hubs, smart cities, and strengthening infrastructure. He suggested that NITI Aayog should give priority to river linking, poverty alleviation through the P4 approach, and the implementation of the 10 main principles of Vision 2047.
