CM Chandrababu set A Revenue Target of Rs 1.34 lakh crore For This year

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has set a revenue target of Rs 1,34,208 crore for the officials this year, which is 29 percent more than the previous year. He said that the state’s revenue will increase only with in-depth study and directed them to prepare plans based on the results of 30 years. He suggested that tax evasion should be checked with the use of technology.

The Chief Minister said that a committee should be formed for international red sandalwood sales. He held a high-level review of the revenue departments at the Amaravati Secretariat and said that Andhra Pradesh is the leading state in the country in purchasing the most gold. But he suggested that the officials should focus on why the tax revenue is not at that level.

The Chief Minister revealed that each department should have an AI team to set up a data lake with information from all departments and an AI-based tax system should be set up in the next two to three months to provide services to taxpayers through artificial intelligence tools. He instructed the officials to take strict action to prevent liquor from neighboring states from being sold illegally in AP.

While the revenue of the transport department is increasing in the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the Chief Minister wondered why the revenue is coming in less in Andhra Pradesh?  He said that the revenue-generating departments should try to exceed the monthly targets and suggested a huge amount of revenue can be earned by selling red sandalwood.

“While there was a decrease in commercial taxes and forest revenue from April 1 to May 11 of this financial year, there was an unprecedented increase in revenue from the Stamps and Registration Department. Also, the revenue due from the central government till May 11 of this financial year has decreased by 26 percent compared to last year. While Rs 17,170 crore was received from the center for the same period in 2024-2025, only Rs 12,717 crore was received this financial year,” officials explained to CM Chandrababu.

“With the newly introduced excise policy in AP, the state earned Rs 28,842 crore in excise revenue in 2024-2025. This is 14.84 percent more than the previous year. However, it is still low in Andhra Pradesh compared to the southern states of Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The state earned Rs 2116 crore in April of the 2025-2026 financial year, while the total excise revenue this year is estimated to be Rs 33,882 crore” they added.
