Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu filled the nominated posts of 66 agricultural market committees, allotted 9 posts to Jana Sena and 4 posts to BJP among the chairmen of the agricultural market committee. Allocations were made to 17 BCs and 10 SCs in the AMC chairman posts. Also, five STs and five minorities got opportunities in the AMC chairman posts. 35 women got opportunities in the agricultural market committee chairman posts.
Meanwhile, the government has issued orders appointing Kollu Peddiraju as the chairman of the AP Fisheries Development Corporation. He will continue as the chairperson for two years. He is from Narsapur constituency. On the other hand, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has already announced the chairmen of the agricultural market committees in several phases.
In the first phase, chairmen were appointed for 47 committees, in the second phase, 38 committees. Similarly, in the third phase there were 30 committees and 66 market committees in the fourth phase. With this, a total of 181 people were replaced in 4 phases. In this too, priority was given to Jana Sena and BJP.
Chandrababu has already appointed chairman and directors to several public sector undertakings. On the other hand, the coalition government has undertaken a wide-ranging public consultation to select the chairmen and members of the market committee. For the past few months, it has collected details of leaders who have worked for the party through various channels including IVRS, online, and the party.
Giving priority to the sentiments of the party ranks, it sought opinions on who should be given what positions. All these were compiled and the names were announced. There are a total of 218 market committees in AP. The local MLA of the respective constituency acts as the honorary chairman of the governing body. Each committee, including the honorary chairman and chairman, has 20 members.
The local PACS president and three other officials are members. The remaining 14 people are appointed by the government through the nominated system. The tenure of the chairman and members is for a year. Usually, it is extended for another year. That is, one person every two years, so in four years, 436 people get the opportunity to serve as chairmen and 6104 people get the opportunity to serve as members.
