Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has cautioned the concerned officials that the selection of mentors to support the golden families as part of the P4 program is completely voluntary and that no one should be forced anywhere.
He held a review of the P-4 program with Minister Payyavula Keshav, MLAs, public representatives and officials through video conference at the Secretariat.
On this occasion, the CM said that it has been decided to implement the P-4 program from the 19th of this month.
He advised that there should be no opposition anywhere in the selection of mentors. He said that what is needed for the golden families is only an emotional bond and support.
Chandrababu said that organizations like Bill Gates and Vedanta are working with CSR funds. He said that the P-4 program was undertaken with the aim of supporting the families beyond this. He clarified that the Zero Poverty Mission is being implemented with the people as the asset.
So far, he said that the selection of 9,37,913 golden families has been completed and 1,03,938 people have been identified as mentors. He said that the needs of 10 lakh families across the state have been identified in order of priority. He said that the details were recorded with 11 questions and analyzed with AI.
The Chief Minister said that 31 percent of them wanted to provide job opportunities, 22 percent wanted medical treatment, and 9 percent wanted to provide opportunities to further grow their small businesses.
He told them to be cautious that some people may try to block good programs and try to create opposition among the people. He recalled that in the past, any program like Janmabhoomi and Shramadan was criticized in the same way.
Chandrababu said that some people have financial resources but do not feel like helping the poor, and some may not have the time even if they do. The CM explained that such people should be identified, and those who have received help in the golden family today can become mentors tomorrow.
He said that golden families will receive additional help through P-4 while receiving regular welfare schemes provided by the government. He suggested that NRIs and industrialists living abroad should be met and their ideas should be stimulated.
