In Vijayawada, the Telugu Language Day celebrations took place at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram, with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Kandu Durgesh in attendance. During his address, Naidu underscored the importance of Telugu, stating that while English may be taught for job prospects, Telugu is vital for a meaningful life. He criticized the YS Jagan government for prioritizing English as a means of survival and emphasized that true knowledge and cultural enrichment come from one’s mother tongue.
Naidu also highlighted the recognition of Telugu as the 11th language in countries like the United States, noting that while some in India might overlook the significance of Kuchipudi dance, it is well-preserved abroad. He stressed the importance of supporting Kuchipudi and preserving Telugu, warning that losing touch with one’s mother tongue could lead to a loss of cultural identity.
The Chief Minister further emphasized the annual observance of Gidugu Ramamurthi’s birth anniversary to honor Telugu. He warned that without the language, cultural survival itself is at risk, and he urged collective efforts to protect Telugu. Naidu also praised Potti Sreeramulu for his role in advocating for language-based states and N.T. Rama Rao for enhancing the pride of Telugu-speaking people across India.
