Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu met Union Water Resources Minister CR Patil in New Delhi on Thursday and discussed several key issues related to the state. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also participated in this meeting. CM Chandrababu tweeted to this effect on social media and said that the meeting with CR Patil was fruitful.
CM Chandrababu requested that the cost incurred for the construction of Polavaram left and right canals be reimbursed. Recently, Rs. 12,000 crores were allocated for Polavaram in the Union Budget and the Chief Minister discussed with him the release of these funds. He also appealed for the financial assistance required to construct Polavaram right and left canals with a water transfer capacity of 17,500 cusecs.
CM Chandrababu requested that necessary assistance be provided to complete the Polavaram project on a war footing. He explained the proposals for the Polavaram- Banakacherla Link Project to Union Minister CR Patil. He said that they discussed the establishment of a link canal to send 200 TMT flood water from Polavaram in Godavari to Banakacharla through this project.
He explained that if this project is completed, AP will become drought-free and will provide drinking water to 80 lakh people. He said that a new ayacut of 3 lakh hectares will be created and ayacut will be stabilized for 9.14 lakh hectares. CM Chandrababu said that 20 TMC of water will be provided to industries.
After this meeting, Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Guptha. Later, CM Chandrababu also met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed several key issues related to AP.
Chandrababu also met Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, before returning to Amaravati. He requested him to help the farmers who are in trouble due to the fall in the price of chilli. The Chief Minister has already written several letters to the Center on this issue.
