CM Chandrababu Asks To speed Up All Highway projects, Resolve clearance Issues

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to resolve the land acquisition, forest and wildlife clearance issues related to all state and national highway projects currently under construction and planned to be constructed soon in the state by the end of July. He said that the construction of roads in AP should be done expeditiously without any hindrance.

The Chief Minister expressed his dissatisfaction with the contract companies of road projects that have been delayed beyond the stipulated time period. He has set a target of completing 1040 km of road works worth Rs. 20,067 crore this year. The Chief Minister held a review with officials and contractors on the development of roads in the state at the Secretariat. On this occasion, he inspected the progress of various road projects.

The CM made it clear that no road construction should be delayed anymore. Officials informed the CM that 770 km of roads were completed in the last financial year at a cost of Rs. 11,325 crore under NHAI and MORTH.  

Officials informed the CM that there are a total of 8744 km of roads in AP. Of these, 4406 km are NHAI roads, 641 km are under PIU-MORTH, and 3697 km are under NH (R&B). It was revealed that currently 3483 km of roads are under construction in the state under NHAI and MORTH at a cost of Rs. 76,856 crore under 144 projects.

It was informed that some more will be taken up soon. Of these, 1392 km are under NHAI roads and 2091 km are under MORTH roads, it was explained to the Chief Minister. Officials informed Chandrababu that 97 percent of the work started in November last year at a cost of Rs. 860.81 crore for pothole-free roads has been completed by June 6.

They said that repairs have been completed on 19,475 kilometers of roads, filling all the potholes. Officials revealed that the repairs on the remaining roads will be completed by July 31.
