CM Chandrababu Asks To set Up A Logistic corporation To Manage Transport of Goods From AP

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to set up a logistics corporation to manage the transport of goods from AP and neighboring states. He suggested that the transport of goods through ports, airports, roads, rail and inland waterways should be managed through this corporation.

Conducting a review on industries and infrastructure, he discussed issues such as the development of airports and ports, changes to be brought in the maritime policy, and the establishment of a logistics corporation.

Speaking on this occasion, CM Chandrababu said “We are preparing plans for the construction of 20 ports and more airports in the state. Large-scale activities are being carried out from the operational ports and airports. The areas near each port and airport should be developed as economic centers. Satellite townships should be developed to connect them to ports and airports”.

“This will develop more new areas. Economic activities will increase. Thus, wealth will be created. So, a Logistics Corporation should be established to efficiently manage the transportation of goods through various routes in the state. The necessary institutions for the development of satellite townships near ports and airports should be identified and developed under the PPP model”, he added.

The Chief Minister said that the Logistics Corporation should be like a growth engine for the economic development of the state. Similarly, he said plans should be made to develop satellite townships at the MSME parks being set up in 175 constituencies. The work related to the construction of Kuppam and Dagadarthi airports should be expedited and land acquisition should be completed on time and work should start, he added.

“Internal roads should be constructed to connect these airports with national highways. If necessary, this should be undertaken through viability gap funding,” the CM said. He suggested changes to be made in the maritime policy to attract more investments.

He said that steps should be taken to pave the way for the establishment of ports, terminals, shipbuilding units, inland waterways and cruise terminals. Officials said that changes should be made in the maritime policy in line with the Shipbuilding Cluster Scheme policy being implemented by the Centre.
