Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu held a teleconference with district collectors, ministers and officials and warned them to be cautious for the next four days due to heavy rains. He said that the meteorological department has warned that there will be heavy rains for 4 days across the state.
The CM ordered them to be vigilant and monitor the ponds, canals and water sources. He advised the people in the area where there is heavy rain. The chief minister directed the officials to send messages and alerts on heavy rains to people’s mobile phones and to focus on the conservation of pond embankments and canal embankments.
He also said that necessary warning boards should be installed at rivulets and canals. Rainfall details should also be available in real time. He asked them to be vigilant to avoid loss of life and limb. With the establishment of control rooms, he said that people’s requests should be responded to quickly.
The Irrigation Department is advised to take measures to fill the ponds and reservoirs through effective water management. Officials said that along with Prakasam and Nellore districts, the combined Chittoor, Kurnool, Kadapa and Anantapur districts will receive rain.
Officials explained to the CM that currently 30 mm rainfall has been recorded in Nellore and the effect of rains will be more from Tuesday. Officials said that necessary NDRF and SDRF teams have been prepared in Nellore and Tirupati districts. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rains in many districts of the state under the influence of low pressure.
The Chief Minister reviewed the preparedness of officials and government departments in the respective areas for heavy rains. He said that 734 mm rainfall has been recorded so far in the state against the average rainfall of 676 mm this season. Officials explained to the CM that 18 districts have received more than normal rainfall and 8 districts have recorded normal and less than normal rainfall.
