Civil Supplies officer Arrested In Perni Nani’s Godown PDS Rice scam case

The arrests in the case of ration rice theft in the godown of YSRCP leader and former minister Perni Nani continue. The police took civil supplies assistant manager Kotireddy into custody on Monday in the case of PDS rice theft in the godown of YCP leader and former minister Perni Nani’s family. The godown manager Manasa Teja was already arrested.

The police suspect that Kotireddy had filed a complaint in advance that the rice had been stolen so that he would not be suspected. The police have recently arrested rice miller Borra Anjaneyulu and lorry driver Botla Mangarao. The judge remanded them for 12 days.

Meanwhile, the Krishna district court has granted anticipatory bail to former minister Perni Nani’s wife Perni Jayasudha in the ration rice theft case on Monday. However, the district court judge ordered Perni Jayasudha to cooperate with the police investigation in this case.

Perni Nani built a buffer godown in the name of his wife Jayasudha near Potlapalem in Bandaru mandal. However, as part of the annual inspections, senior officials of the Civil Supplies Department recently conducted inspections in those godowns and  found that there was a huge difference in the rice storage in the godown and the storage in the official documents.

Initially, Perni Nani tried to explain that the way bridge was not working properly. Due to this, the government issued notices to Perni Jayasudha. With that, she paid a DD of Rs. 1.79 crore to the government regarding the rice shortage. On the other hand, high-ranking officials have taken up the matter.

As part of that, it was found that a total of 378 metric tons of rice was shorted in the godown. In this context, District Joint Collector Geetanjali Sharma issued notices to Perni Jayasudha on Monday asking her to pay an additional Rs. 1.67 crore.

Perni Nani served as the Minister of Information, Civil Relations and Transport during the previous Jaganmohan Reddy government. After a change of government in the state, the disappearance of ration rice in the godowns belonging to Perni Nani’s wife during the annual inspections created a sensation throughout the state.

Moreover, the payment of crores of rupees to the government as if they had admitted their mistake in this rice theft case became a hot topic of political debate.
