The former Chandragiri MLA and much-needed prominent face of the YSR Congress Party, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy has landed up in legal trouble when a POCSO case was booked against him in Tirupati city. It is well known for his muscular political approach alongside being a close associate to Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, an incident that started sending shock waves through the local political circles.
The complaint, filed before the Magistrate Court by the father of a minor girl, accuses Chevireddy and his associates of spreading false and harmful rumors that the girl had been raped, which they knew no such incident had happened.
He alleged that Chevireddy’s acts have severely damaged his daughter’s reputation by propagating such baseless rumors. So, under the POCSO Act, 2012, which was enacted in Parliament to protect children from sexual offenses, exploitation, harassment, and false allegations, a case has been registered.
Conviction of these cases could seriously haunt the future of Chevireddy both in the courts as well as in a political way where he and the YSR Congress Party may undergo major political repercussions. Local leaders and supporters are keenly waiting for the outcome of the situation with both legal and political ramifications involved.
